Post-Apocalypse Table: Survival Kit

orderd30Many post-apocalypse games have “survival kit” on the item list but what’s in one of them anyhow? What if the party finds one as treasure? How full is it? This table is based on modern kits of this kind and uses the d30 and percentile dice.

First roll a d30 1d6 times to determine the contents and percentile for each item to see how much is still useful and present. 01-15, like new; 16-60, partially gone or destroyed; 71-00, useless. These kits are usually found in a 6″ x 11″ x 5″ aluminum case.

  • My computer beeps at me when I try to add your atom feed to my feed reading software. Any idea as to what I could be doing wrong?

well, in a post apocalyptic scenario…a medium to long range weapon would be advised. Such as an AR-15 and a pistol or shotgun

  • SAVAGE

Get a transferable machine gun before it’s too late. The M4A1 is a great one, I have one and a Cobray M11 9mm SMG pistol. You will also need a few thousand rounds of ammo. A M203 is also a good idea. In the post apocalyptic era these will be easy to come by in old military installations but when the fun starts I would suggest already having one. And a bat or mace type device. Also get alot of MREs to sustain you and have a alot of water in storage, water bottles in garage. Stock up on medical supplies like quick relief powder bandages, gauze, painkillers (liquor), radiation exposure medicine, antiseptics and antibiotic ointment. DRY SOCKS are a must along with boots that keep out moisture, you WILL be on your feet. Duct tape, gasoline, strike anywhere waterproof matches, gas mask, lip balm, protein bars, turtle skin gloves (gloves that will not be punctured by sharp objects), needles and thread for giving yourself stitches. Body armor level III, they are getting cheaper and cheaper along with SAPI plates. A tent is a good idea also. Kerosene lamp and extra fuel, wire cutters, some electrical wire and burn cream. Burn cream is a must. Taurus makes a pistol called the Judge that will shoot 410 shotgun shells and .45 long, get one. A thick waterproof jacket, louse powder, gold bond for rashes, sunscreen, a hat. Food, water, shelter, and protection.

Also trijicon scopes have a half life of 12.5 years due to the tritium in them, I have two a reflex and acog. I would also get a draganov rifle for those long distances, if you have the cash get a M82A1 but at 30lbs you dont want to haul that baby around. The M4A1 w/ an M203 and ACOG trijicon scope are your best bet, suppressors are good because they help to disguise your position and you wont lose your hearing when shooting in rooms. American armament makes a great suppressor for .223 weapons. Bowers makes a great suppressor for the M11. Get the M4A1 first, also get a short upper and a long range upper. LOTS OF AMMO!!! Machetes are a tried and true tool also.

  • So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”

  • Great list of survival kit. I’m not sure if you know this but lip balm is not only good for your lips, it helps lubricate zippers and helps keep leather from cracking. Another item to include on the list is paracord, it’s a small but extremly durable cord you can use for everything.
